Central Park Loop-24 miles

After a week of eating out while on vacation and at a conference, I was eager to get back on my bike. Last week I went up to the Henry Hudson Drive in the horrible heat...I think it was 100% real feel T. That was probably a mistake.

That night I discovered there was a big fat bulge in the rear tire. So, I thought I'd practice changing my tire in the safe confines of my apartment. Two hours later, with a new tube....the bulge was still there. Turns out that I needed a new one. I guess it's time considering these are the original tires. Big red is 6 years old in August!

Today I met Nan for a few loops in the park and then a nice lunch at Route 66 on 9th ave. The weather was great...overcast so there were no people in the park!

Central Jersey Jaunt-Hillsborough-Franklin (22 miles)

I rode solo today down in Central NJ. This is the route that I take when I'm down in Hillsborough visiting my mom. (mileage)

Rockland Lake (Nyack) 55 miles!

Today Tom and I rode up through Palisades Interstate Park (Henry Hudson Drive) in Edgewater and rode up to Alpine Police station to meet Stu. (8.75 miles)

Our ultimate goal was Rockland Lake. I'm going to try and recreate the route so we can remember it for next time...but there are some details missing. First we went to Piermont by taking 9W North to Tallman state park. We made a right into Tallman State Park and at the stop sign, we made a right. The road curved to the left, we went over a bridge in the center of town by the big American flag. When you arrive in Piermont you must ride single file or you could get a ticket. (15 miles) We rode through Piermont and continued on Piermont Road and viewed some beautiful mansions! We saw more mansions today then we did last week! This is a

beautiful road...

Reminder for coming back to the GWB from Piermont: Follow S.Piermont Road to 340 EAST. This will become County Road in NJ. Take this all the way to Englewood. Follow directions below from Nyack Ride (1998). Today I passed the 200 mile mark. (211) I'm doing much better than last year! Hooray!

Mansion Ride for Autism (39 miles) Syosset, LI

ide for Autism out in Long Island. We had a beautiful day. It was not as difficult as the 55 mile Gold Coast ride, but it was more challenging than the Tour de Cure in Princeton the week before. All in all, it was an excellent ride.

We did not see that many mansions...maybe they are on the 65 mile route!

2010 Tour de Cure-Princeton (32 miles)

Today was our first "official" ride of the season. It was a steamy 90 degrees F! Tom joined us for his first EB riders event. Nan and Marisa came to cheer for us at the finish line too! Here's Nan with her cowbell.

Gold Coast 2009-July 12 (60 miles)

We finally managed to get on our first organized ride this season! June was a bust due to rain and other conflicts. The Gold Coast this year did not disappoint. We had beautiful, sunny weather..in the 80's. The nice thing about this ride is that it generally draws a smaller crowd and there are nice long stretches where we're riding alone. Here is Stu at the start of the ride at 8am.

Last year, we said that the first 8 miles were the most difficult....that's still true although there are many challenging hills throughout the ride. The 2 first giant hills are at mile 2.4 Mill Dam Road (0.6 miles) and mile 3.8 Cove Road/Youngs Hill Rd (?). After the first rest stop at Southdown School (mile 8.1) the next giant hill is in Seacliff: Albin/Prospect/Shore/Scudder Rd (mile 28.3). Here we are at the first rest stop:Our next rest stop was in Roslyn and it turns out that Tina saw us on the road turning onto Willets Road! What are the odds of that? Shortly after though, we missed a turn (we think at Muttontown Road) and took a 5 mile detour. Thanks to Stu's iPhone, we found our way back to Berry Hill Road to join the others. Here we are at the Roslyn stop:So we got detoured a bit on Old Hempsted Turnpike, Jericho Turnpike and Northern Blvd. We got thrown off because the roads have several names! We finally made it to the end...60 miles in total. It was a great ride and hope to do it again next year! Here we are at the end with our free Mister Softee ice cream cone!

NYACK 10/12/08-40 miles

This weekend we added two new Eb Riders-Sheri and Scott (from Colorado)! I took them up t Nyack to show them what our rides are like out here. We had beautiful weather...in the 70's. The leaves have already started to turn orange up in Nyack. We started at the Hudson River Parkway where I normally park. We met Stu up at the Alpine police station and continued up via 9W through Piermont and ultimately to the Runcible Spoon in Nyack. Here are a few pics of our trip!
